(I'll likely post on their forum as well)ġ. Please help me understand the role or intention of SageTV for WHS. This is going to be a noobish question but I don't care.

We don't have Tivo HD in Canada so that's not an option either. NFL, NBA, and hockey seasons will be starting soon enough. I've tried the Slingbox and I've been overall impressed by it but it doesn't stream at HD resolutions and I'm reaching out to see if there's something better out there for streaming HD content.Īnyway, sorry for the long-winded post but any input that can be provided will be graciously appreciated. I have a feeling that will be a challenge for the MSS to do since it has to encode the stream and send it out. Now that you have the background, what I was exploring is using the Hauppauge HD-PVR to capture HD content to my MSS for later viewing and seeing if Sagetv's Placeshifter product can work as advertised to stream the HD content over the net. In addition, I want to record HD content which it can't do. I've also tried the slingbox and it's been great for what it advertises to do but doesn't give me the ability to record content to my PC/MSS for later viewing off of the PVR. I've tried the Hauppauge HD-PVR connected to my digital cable HD PVR box. As a result, we need to get digital cable or satellite boxes from our providers where the channels are encrypted by the provider. border, very limited, and not worth talking about). In Canada, we don't get OTA HD or ATSC channels (OK, we do, but need to live close to the U.S. I think this is going to turn into a Sagetv thread.
